Dehradun. Participating in the review meeting of forest fire incidents in the state under the chairmanship of Home Secretary, Government of India, Chief Secretary Smt Radha Raturi informed that no new incident of forest fire has occurred in Uttarakhand in the last 24 hours. The incidents of forest fire have been continuously decreasing for the last two days. 0.1 percent of the forest in Uttarakhand has been affected by forest fire and legal action will be taken against those who propagate wrong figures in this regard.
CS Smt Radha Raturi informed that the government and administration has put all its efforts into forest fire control. Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami is continuously conducting review and monitoring meetings regarding forest fire control. The Chief Secretary is also constantly monitoring the situation with continuous review meetings. PCCF (HOF) is holding continuous meetings with the field staff of the Forest Department for forest fire monitoring and taking information regarding the demands of all the divisions. The senior-most officers of the headquarters level have been deployed in the field in the districts. The field operation is being inspected on the spot by PCCF (HOF) and APCCF Forest Fire and Disaster Management.
On getting success in reducing the response time, Chief Secretary Smt Radha Raturi informed that the fire alert received from FSI is immediately sent in the related WhatsApp groups and the crew team is sent to the spot at the same time. By doing special monitoring of the large number of fire alerts received from FSI, success has been achieved in controlling forest fire in the shortest possible time.
Chief Secretary Smt Radha Raturi informed that by making the active Van panchayats, forest fire management committees, Mahila Mangal Dals, Yuva Mangal Dals aware and responsible, success has been achieved in controlling forest fire in the forest areas near the villages. Efforts to control forest fire got a new momentum by encouraging, rewarding and immediately allocating budget to community institutions and field officers doing excellent work in forest fire control.
Chief Secretary Smt Radha Raturi informed that the cooperation of personnel from all the line departments including disaster management, fire services, etc. has been taken in forest fire control. From 28th April to 1st May, the 15th battalion of NDRF assisted in controlling forest fire in Nainital Forest Division and today this battalion is reaching Garhwal Forest Division. Indian Air Force helicopter MI 17 V 5 sprayed 44600 liters of water in Garhwal Forest Division Pauri between 6th and 8th May. During this period, 417 forest crimes were registered in the state, out of which 356 were unknown and 61 were known. 75 were registered as criminals. FIR was registered against 13. 10 persons have been arrested.
During the review meeting, Home Secretary, Government of India said that the Government of India is providing all possible support and guidance regarding forest fire control in Uttarakhand.
Chief Forest Conservator Dr. Dhananjay Mohan, Principal Secretary Shri RK Sudhanshu, Secretary Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha, Additional Chief Forest Conservator Shri Nishant Verma and related officers were present in the meeting.
